"Doy Bags are made by a women's environmental and livelihood cooperative in the Philippines. More than 500 women and their families benefit from the regular work and fair wages plus a number of other benefits such as health insurance, skills training and an educational scholarship program for their children. Discarded juice packs are a major problem in the Philippines, littering streets, road verges, parks and waterways. Countless millions of these non-biodegradable packs end up in landfill or, worse, are incinerated, with the risk of toxic chemicals being released. An enterprising group of women from one small community on the outskirts of Manila decided to do something about their rubbish problem - juice packs and other rubbish was littering the streets and polluting the once beautiful river that runs alongside the community. Today not only is the village clean, tidy and a much more pleasant place to live, but, inspired by their slogan There's money in rubbish, the women have created jobs that are transforming lives and improving the community as a whole."
i found these randomly today, and instantly fell in love with the company. they have a bunch of different designs and colors. i'm really excited for these. i think if you're going to buy something, you should think first about who it's going to directly affect. they're totally economical, and super cute. i back this.
